Intro to Herbalism: Befriending Plants & Starting your Apothecary

An introductory workshop for Queer and Trans people interested in herbalism.  We will meet in Prospect Park, touch on the history and source of this knowledge, and do a deep dive into some medicinal plants common in NYC.  My approach involves slowly building relationships to the more than human world, and getting to know a few plants at a time.  Knowing a handful of plants intimately is a great start to a home apothecary.  This workshop requires walking on uneven terrain, sitting on the ground, and standing.  Please bring a journal or unlined paper, pens, pencils and other drawing materials, a cup that can hold hot water, and something to sit on if you don't want to sit in the dirt.  In any space I facilitate, racism, ableism, sanism, transphobia, xenophobia, classism, and all other systems of hierarchy and hate will not be tolerated.  There will be 2 free spots for BIPOC, 5 spots on the first tier, 10 spots on the second tier, and 5 spots on the third tier.  I understand that this course is inaccessible to some, and will have other workshops available that meet different accessibility needs. MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF THIS CLASS.  Please do not wear scented products, and please reach out with any accessibility needs, questions, or comments.  Once you register, please fill out this google form so I can communicate updates and details!

March 25th 1-4pm
1st tier $5-$35 (5 spots)
2nd tier $35-$55 (10 spots)
3rd tier $55-$75 (5 spots)

Please get in touch to reserve one of the Free spots for BIPOC (I'm not super tech savvy and can't figure out how to add a free item to my store). If you cancel more than 1 month before a class, there is partial refund, but in general cancelations are non-refundable.

Herbs for Mental Health: Finding Plant Allies Through Embodied Somatic Practice

My own experiences with madness and sanity are what lead me to herbalism over a decade ago.  There are a lot of people who tend to dismiss western medicine and promote herbs as the only viable path, and I want to be clear that I am not of that mindset.  Herbalism is powerful and beautiful and wonderful, and so are all of the other tools available to you.  I will go through any possible contraindications and herb drug interactions before we ingest any herbs.

This is not a space where we will be rehashing trauma or sharing personal experiences of trauma.

We will meet in the park, do some gentle grounding somatic exercises and brief meditation, then get into testing our somatic responses to a handful of different herbs.  Please bring something comfortable to sit on, a bottle of water, a journal and something to write with, and wear comfortable clothes.  Together we will practice an embodied somatic approach to building relationships with different herbs to support mental well being.  Each person will leave with a custom formula according to the knowledge of their body.
